Creating a garden that goes beyond pleasing to the eyes to feeding not only our little family but the wilder world too!

You might be thinking why “Wilderhome” well Wild Home just didn’t seem to fit even if it does describe most days around here! Hi I am Kristi and I grew up gardening, my first job was working in a little community garden which was a mix of the typical flowers and some veggies. I remember taking some fresh produce over to my grandparents house, who also have a beautiful flower garden and my grandpa just eating most of it with out even washing any of it. My mom’s garden was also the typical turf and flowers it seemed that in just a few generations we had completely moved away from growing our own food for the sake of looking pretty. Now as I share the knowledge that I have with my own daughter we have taken a new approach. Our home isn’t just ours and it is time to let the wild back into our gardens.

We have also seen family members who lead pretty healthy lifestyles have health issues and battle cancer. After some reflection, the best guess could be the preservatives and other additives we have started to consume for convenience. So we try to live a low-toxic life from cleaning supplies to gardening practices, and so much more. While many may consider our lives as unconventional slowing down to do it ourselves has brought so much joy! The goal is to feed us with nutritional food but also support the local ecosystem as well. Our smaller 1.5 acre lot has countless visitors! Bunnies, owls, bluebirds, woodchucks, foxes, fishers, even a black bear with her cub and so much more have used our property in their own life.
